Our Story

Ken-Ton’s first brewery, Beer Kind Brewing, operates under a 5-barrel brewing system and offers a family-friendly environment that serves a wide selection of craft beverages. We offer a self-pour tap wall with 20 taps where customers have the option to try a variety of different styles of craft beverages, pour as little or as much as they want and only pay for what they pour.

Beer Kind Brewing is owned and operated by husband-and-wife Alex & Jen Buckley, who reside in the Town of Tonawanda. Alex is the brains behind the beer and brewmaster, while Jen assists with the operations.

Alex’s passion for brewing all started back in 2010 when his mother Tina came home with a homebrew kit that she purchased from Williams Sonoma. He brewed an IPA with the help of his dad and brother and from there he was hooked! Since then, he has homebrewed over 200 batches of beer and won many homebrew awards. Alex is a certified beer judge through the Beer Judge Certification Program, was a part-time brewer and tap keeper at 42 North, ran a beer podcast called Your Brain on Hops and started a family business with his mother called Traveling Growler. 

Jen’s professional background includes working for a global insurance consultant as a Product Manager with over 10 years of client and project management experience. In her spare time, she volunteers for Big Brothers Big Sisters where she has been matched with her little for over 5 years and has written a children’s book called Goodnight Buffalo that is sold on Amazon and in locally owned shops across Western New York. Like Alex, Jen has a passion for great tasting beer and enjoys helping Alex brew and learning about the brewing process.
